Based on the 2009 blockbuster film with the same title, this slot from IGT brings you on an adventure that’s also as much fun as the movie that inspired it. With 5 reels, 30 paylines, and a host of interesting features and bonuses, this is one game that’s sure to get you hooked. And you can even play it on both desktop and mobile devices.
Gameplay begins with setting your bets. You can start by clicking on the Coin Value +/- tabs to set your preferred coin denomination to wager per line. To set the reels into motion, you may click on the Spin button in the middle of the control panel at the bottom of the screen. For a chosen number of uninterrupted spins, click on the Auto Spin button at the rightmost end of the control panel.
Feature Symbols
You will not see any of the familiar playing card symbols in this game, as all base game symbols are theme-related. Low-value symbols are represented by a smoking pipe, a magnifying glass, Sherlock’s timepiece, Sherlock’s violin, and a bulldog. High-value symbols are represented by characters from the movie. You will see Inspector Lestrade, Irene Adler, Dr. Watson, and Sherlock Holmes himself. The most valuable symbol, however, is the Sherlock Holmes logo, paying out 500 coins for a match of 5.
The base game has no Wild symbol, although there is a Bonus symbol, which is key to the game’s main bonus round. The Bonus symbols I represented by a golden cog with the word “bonus” printed across it.
Bonus Rounds
The game has several features that make it more exciting. One of these features is the Mystery Multiplier, which is the most straightforward game feature. You are randomly awarded a multiplier of up to 10x your win at any point in the game.
Another interesting random game feature is the Teamwork Feature. Whenever you land Watson and Holmes symbols adjacent to each other, they could transform into a combined symbol and increase in value to three times as much as the individual symbols.
The game’s main bonus feature is the Picker Puzzle feature. This feature is activated when you land three of the Bonus symbols, which only appear on the first, third, and fifth reels. You will then be brought into Sherlock’s room where you will be tasked to pick five objects. The items you pick could reveal cash bonuses or three to four matching items that trigger special bonus rounds.
• Blackwood Wheel Bonus – This is a Wheel of Fortune round that is activated when you collect three or four Wheel symbols during the Picker Puzzle round. You start out with three pointers and 10 spins of the wheel. The goal is to avoid the Blackwood wedge as you collect prizes with every spin. Landing on a Blackwood wedge deactivates a pointer, and when all your pointers are deactivated, the bonus round ends. The good news is that a pointer can be reactivated by landing a Sherlock wedge. If you manage to complete all 10 spins with at least one pointer still active, your prizes will all be doubled.
• The Hunt Bonus – This is essentially a Free Spins round. If you land three scrolls during the Picker Puzzle round, you get 10 free spins. If you land four scrolls, you get 15 free spins. You start with five locations marked on the reels. If you land Watson or Holmes on any of those positions, these symbols will transform into locked Wilds. If you manage to cover all five positions, your wins for the entire round will be doubled.
