Leading iGaming software provider Wazdan has just expanded their reach across the Nordic region, having just received certification from the Swedish Gambling Authority. Things are certainly looking up for Wazdan, as this certification came soon after they signed a new partnership deal and launched a new slot game.
Wazdan entered into a deal with online entertainment company Hero Gaming, which went into effect on July 3rd. Prior to that, they have also signed partnership deals with Kindred Group, and Mr. Green. As soon as they became certified in the Scandinavian nation, therefore, the Malta-based game developer enabled their games via their Swedish partners.
Sweden represents the latest achievement for Wazdan, in terms of their global expansion ambitions. Other than the Malta Gaming Authority, the UK Gambling Commission, and now the Swedish Gambling Authority, the company has also received approvals from Romania and Curacao. They have also made manoeuvres for certification in Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania.
The company’s approval in Sweden came after a recent move to institutionalise some changes by the Swedish Gambling Authority. They have decided to open up the market in hopes of creating a safe and secure entity. They are particularly focused on improving game security and consumer protection. Towards this end, they started accepting license applications under the new law earlier this year.
Before this new law was passed, the gambling market of this Scandinavian nation was state-controlled. This has placed the country under fire from the European Union, with strong criticism of the country’s monopoly position. The legal amendment has effectively opened the market and allowed the private sector to take part. This market liberalization is seen not only to be good for casino operators and game developers, but also beneficial to players where better regulations and consumer protection are concerned.
Wazdan itself has been busy lately. They have just closed a content-based deal with sportsbook and online casino operator Betzest. Speaking about their entry into the Scandinavian market, Wazdan Head of Sales Andrzej Hyla said, “We are excited to announce our Swedish certification, which allows us to strengthen our position in the Swedish market and expand the reach of our games through our existing operators.”
“The Swedish certification opens up doors for our team to increase what we offer our partners, and also to develop new relationships with operators to bring Wazdan high-quality games to the Swedish players,” Hyla added.
